 Hi All,

I just joined site this evening. I am just looking to have a chat with other first time mammys, and some of you 'professionals'. I had my baby 6 months ago, but since have been suffering pnd. I joined forum on the advice of a friend. Never been on one before.

So since anyone with any sense is in bed asleep at this hour I shall drop by again tomorrow!

Hello another newbie,SO sorry to hear you are suffering with pnd.Being a mum changes your life completely and it can feel so overwhelming at times.Yes our lovely babies bring lots of joy too,but if we aren't getting sleep, our bodies feels drained, our brains are  working overtime,we feel afraid that we aren't being good mums and have feelings of being unable to cope and feel trapped, everything just gets top of us and we feel depressed. What alot of mums forget is that we have to look after ourselves too.We need to accept  help when its offered by our friends and family so that we get rest and time to be ourselves and do things that we enjoy. Also pet since you are still depressed at this stage I'd recommend speaking to your g.p about it if you haven't done so already, theres NO shame in what you are feeling.
I have felt mildly depressed at times after having my babies too,I was on medication for a while after my first baby but came off them after a year.after my second I  managed with talking to my hubby and friends and family and now just after my third baby(11 weeks old)I have good days and bad days, but I'm coping with being honest about how I feel to my husband and on bad days he gives me the opportunity to have rest or time-out.
I hope you feel better soon honey.I look forward to hearing from you again.Annabell

Hi All,

Was just messing around with my profile and made a mess, so am now zoe1

Thanks for the replys, you lot are a supportive oul bunch!

I have gone to my gp, I first went in July and he basically told me I wasn't that bad he had heard worse etc etc, I left feeling as though I was a child acting up to be honest, but I ended up going back with my husband. The result being he now has me on prozac!

I was reluctent to go to the doc because I felt a bit foolish, it's probably the same for a lot of ladies in my situation, but it seems to me everyone has a baby and hey presto life is still fab just with a baby. The fact that I didn't feel like that made me think I was ungrateful or something. I have pcos and had been praying and hoping for a baby and when a lovely little angel comes along I can't handle it.......no wonder I was going off my head (or at least felt that way).

It is quit alot to handle, but I can't complain, my lovely boy is happy healthy and sleeps at night (I know some of you want to kill me right now), but no doctor, friend or anti-natal class can prepare you for the feelings that you give birth too right after you give birth to the baby.

I feel alot better now on the meds and my husband says he can see me getting back to myself which is good. So hopefully I am in the right direction.
